And introducing...

We weren't sure when we would get our new dog. It could take up to 2 weeks. So I was waiting. The kids were waiting. Just not very patiently. About 3:30 yesterday, the pet rescue people called to tell me that we could have our new dog! Our application had been approved. We would need to call the groomers to make arrangements to pick him up. Okay. No problem.

We called, the groomer/boarder was not open. the kids deflated immediately. I left a message, planning to go over first thing in the morning. She called back at 4. If we could make it to the vet to pick up heart worm medicine, we could then come by and pick up Shaggy.

so we grabbed the leash and scurried off. We picked up some Revolution from the vet.
We went to the groomers and claimed our prize.

He's a 17 month old shih-tzu.

I've learned that I have much to learn about a) this breed and b) dogs in general.
I thought I knew what I was doing.
But I don't.
Drats.

I'm very grateful for friends that do.

He had a very busy day.
He ran and ran and ran yesterday evening.
He ran between fences - running from one neighbor dog to another.
He ran with children. He ran from children.
He ran to children.
He sat in my lap.
He looked, with curiosity, at Maggie the cat.
Maggie was not impressed.
At. All.
He ran so much yesterday, that today he just wants to be left alone.

This is what happens when you have too much fun:
I feel the same way, sometimes.
*LOL*
They just don't make carriers big enough for both of us.

Maybe I could clean out the closet.

Oh my goodness, is he cute or what?! I think I need to get a Shaggy too. :) For the kids, of course...

Welcome to Shaggy. You guys are gonna have a lot of fun with him! I love the carrier idea- mine would need to be big enough to hold a bed, fridge, tv, bath tub and bookshelf. Maybe I wouldn't need a fridge, I could probably make due with a cooler and ice to keep my choc from melting.

Sweet doggie!

You know, there is something to be said for cleaning out a closet - I'm sitting in my closet office hideaway right this moment. :)

He is so adorable. My Little Guy is starting to ask for a dog. I was thinking of getting another cat first (he doesn't really remember our cat, who was put down two years ago at the age of 17).

That was quick!

Now, on to the hamster... or is the Professor sighing too much for that to happen now?

Thanks for stopping by Like I Was Saying. I'm glad I'm not the only mom who needs combat pay to take their toddler to the grocery store. There is definitely comfort in numbers!

Your new dog is adorable. Looking forward to learning more about you.

I'm afraid to say that gawking was *still* not encouraged... sheesh... neither is our waving at everyone we drive past... imagine that!

Oh well.

And "rollicking" is a nice work. It sort of rolls off the tongue. (But that doesn't really justify my using it online... "it rolls off the fingers" doesn't sound quite right.)

Awwww! What a cutie. Welcome to your new "baby". :o)

The only thing I know about shih-tzus is that a friend in Puerto Rico had one that snored something awful. But I think they make up for that in their fierce loyalty.

Congratulations. I hope the cat gets used to him!

Peace and Laughter!

He looks so soft and cuddly and he's come to the right home for lots of love. My sister & her boys have a shih-tzu cross Maltese and he's a lot of fun.
Blessings,
Paula

He is too cute! And I wish they made a crate big enough for me to get in when I want to be left alone. Although the closet is a good idea too ;)
