"Surprised by life's Little Quirks"

We have a dog.
Did you know??
His name is Gizmo. I'm sure I've posted about him.

I don't like him as well as I liked Shaggy, I have to admit.
Gizmo, honestly, gets into MORE trouble and he's not nearly as affectionate as Shaggy was.

J-man, though, absolutely adores this dog.
So - in reality, I can't just pitch him. Though I've thought about taking his collar off and let him just kind of run away. He's cute. I'm sure some one would adopt him.

He is tall enough to get into the trash can (Shaggy wasn't.)
I'm constantly cleaning up after this dog.

I don't like it. Because when he gets into trouble - stealing toys and killing them. Taking plates out of the trash . WHATEVER .... I Have to deal with it. I don't necessarily want my life to stop all of a sudden because of the dog.

THEN ... then the kids started to complain about it. Him jumping on them.
When they wrestle, he wants to wrestle to - usually with nips of teeth. A practice of which this mom is not fond...

I started a Mantra. "Let's just get rid of him."

That caused a stirring in them to actually play with the dog or protect their toys ...

Then one day, J-man actually agreed with me.

So ... anytime Gizmo gets into trouble, Mini-Me and G-man (mostly Mini-Me) starts cuddling the dog. "Don't get rid of him!"

It all started feeling familiar.
Let's get rid of him....

Then -- I realized why it was familiar feeling.

I was feeling like Dread Pirate Roberts.

The Quote from the movie was "Good Night, Westley. Good work. Sleep Well. I'll most likely kill you in the morning."

So I've adapted. "Good Night Gizmo. Sleep well. I"ll most likely give you away in the morning."

I love my inside joke.
The Professor actually laughed when I told him my revelation.

Mini-me doesn't get it and told me so in no uncertain terms that she didn't get it.
Well. Yeah. That's the point of inside jokes.

Maybe I won't get Rid of Gizmo after all - He's now part of an inside joke and the joke makes me happy. ... but we'll have to wait until morning to figure it out.

In the meantime - here's the scene from the movie.
In the Fireswamp. Beware the R.O.U.S.es.

I will admit to having the same thoughts about Ollie at times. Especially when he's shredding the weather stripping. ;o)

If you decide to off him, leave him mostly dead, K?

I think The Princess Bride is about the most quotable movie I know!

ROFL!!!! I love it! I'm going to use it with the cats. :o)

Did you ever look up any of the video clips for "It's Me or the Dog" on Animal Planet? She had lots of good advice. And maybe the kids just need to play outside with the dog more. They say a tired dog is a good dog!

Peace and Laughter,
Cristina

"So - in reality, I can't just pitch him. Though I've thought about taking his collar off and let him just kind of run away. He's cute. I'm sure some one would adopt him." I can so relate- I think about feeding our dog chocolate sometimes. He ate a special housewarming patchwork pillow that my hubby's aunt made for him when he built his first place. He has been pulling his sad face ever since I yelled at him for it. This is AFTER I washed his chewy Kong thing all up for him to knaw on. Sometimes that dog such a jerk!

Well, look at me, venting about my dog over on your blog. The kids love him, and he is great with him. If you haven't read my last post, go have a peek- it is along the same lines as yours.

RYC: you need to stop back and see what Arby has commented. You need have no worries about the D initial. But... stay away from his blog for a few days, unless you have a large can of Lysol handy. Just a word to the wise.

and, the way Mini-Me is going, I have a feeling you are headed for LOTS of interesting conversations at your place. :D

Ha! I LOVE you!!! Not So Classic participated in the American Idol experience at Disney World the other day. They asked him what his favorite movie was. I think you know how he responded. :)
