Don't tell the kids...

....tomorrow might bring us a visitor.....

This is Grandpa. He lives in Arizona. He should be arriving tomorrow. He's only staying 1 night, though. I know the kids, especially G, will be so excited to see him, that I haven't told them he's coming.

I've been trying to catch up on things that I've neglected to make the visit pleasant. It's kind of a bummer that he can't stay more than a day or so, but he has to get back home and back to work.

Can't wait to see their faces when he "ding-dongs" the doorbell. so .... shhhhhhh....

God Bless the USA

Tomorrow's the 4th...

I came out of my cave for just a bit - I'm feeling patriotic.

We Americans are about to celebrate our National "Birthday". While there is a rise in patriotism on that day - it is, pretty much, temporary.

We, as a country, need to return to the God who blessed our nation.
So where do we start?

Have you heard about "THE CALL"?
And if you catch the fire but can't make the trip check out Burn777.

Happy 4th Of July!

Happy Independence Day!

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young Marine saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He'd stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers' tears?

How many pilots' planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers' graves?
No, freedom isn't free.
I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant "Amen,"
When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.
I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in Arlington.
No, freedom isn't free.

Cave Dweller

I'm becoming a cave dweller - at least for a couple of days.
