Mini-E will be 2 on Valentine's day. She's quite the independent, tiny human.
She knows her own mind.
She has opinions.
She has the best facial expressions - she even rolls her eyes.
She has an ear infection in both ears. I've been giving her her medicine at night. Tonight, she dug through the fridge and pulled out a yogurt. She loves yogurt.
I smiled sweetly, "You can have that after you take your medicine." I thought it perfect. She had an incentive to take her medicine without hassle.
She looked at me.
Put the yogurt back in the crisper.... (isn't that where you keep your yogurt?)
......and ran.
I found her on the way up to Mini-Me's bed, hiding in plain sight. I said, "I'll give you a sucker if you take your medicine."
Her reply: "No. No, ducker."
Drats.
So much for easy. The desperation of a toddler just amazes me. Passing up even a sucker.
Just so you know: She did have her medicine despite her dash for freedom. And then I gave her the yogurt, because I'd promised. She took 3 bites and was done. I need a better incentive.

Smart cookie, that one!
If she is passing up a sucker, we are into some serious business! Hope she gets well soon!
Maybe she'd take it better mixed in with her yogurt. I had a daughter that wouldnt take medicine until she was ten! It was awful!
LOL!!! At least you got her to take it. My stories that are with Emily all end in "and she didn't take the medicine." (or, "she did take the medicine and then she either a. spit it all out or b. threw it all up...lovely stuff, I tell ya!) Hope mini-E feels better soon!
I feel so sorry for her, with her tendency to get ear infections. I feel sorry for you too, having to force or coerce a little cutie into taking something she hates, because there's no way out of it. We all know what that's like.
Blessings,
Paula
PS I enjoyed your last few posts too, including the one about patriotism and getting choked up, which is something that is probably universal, wherever we come from.
no ducker.
no tricks from here. I relied on sheer stubborness and my ability to outlast them.
I once pinned my daughter on the floor with her head trapped between my knees to get her to take her medicine which she desperately needed to take.
After that, she took it happily whenever dad reminded her of the 'other choice'.
She's seventeen now and still gets ear infections. The ER doctor we just saw recently for ear infections of course, said she has a lot of scar tissue from all the infections and will have this problem the rest of her life.
All she can do is to keep from getting congested and possible use a humidifier to keep her sinuses moist to prevent getting the ear infections.
Good luck in getting your sweet little one past this issue.
My prayers are with you.
I am sorry the little one is sick. I know my daughter is sick when she won't take medicine. If she is healthy, she has no problem drinking a whole bottle and asking for more.
Hershey's Kisses work wonders. ;o)
Hope baby is soon better!
For the past 2 weeks, I've had an ear infection too! Tell Mini-E we can share a yogurt or ice cream. :)
Poor thing! (the baby not you!) Mean mommy! (that was for you!) So what is your next great idea since the yogurt and the sucker clearly didn't work!?
Well, while you think about that come by and pick up the daily dose award1
Whew! Lemme know when you find out that answer. When they don't want it, it is a fight to the finish!
Hehehehehe!
I know what you go through.
Eventually she'll be five and hide in the basement at her friend's house when you tell her it's time to go.
Oh wait. That was my day. ;o)
I hope the little sweetie feels better in time for her birthday.
Peace and Laughter,
Cristina
